FEAST! Picnic in the Park
01 Jun - 03 Jun
Once again MIA have treated us all to a brilliant weekend of picnics, theatre, circus, music and all kinds of fun around the lake. The sun came out for the whole weekend and it only started to rain after Community Arts North West had provided us with music to dance to all Sunday afternoon at their Exodus Picnic (raising awareness of the cultural richness that refugee populations bring to our region) - a great way to finish the weekend!
Huge respect to all the people that worked so hard to make the FEAST! weekend happen. If you were there, here are some pictures to remind you of some of the fun. Otherwise, see what you missed and don't make the same mistake in the future!
If you have any photos you'd like us to add, please send them to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
French Ball and Cabaret : Fete de la Bastille
An "enchanted ballroom" in the middle of the park with food, games, bellydancing and live entertainment from le Petit Theatre de Pain. Thankfully the wet weather contingency plans were never needed!
Bollywood Dance Extravaganza
We're a bit lacking in pictures of this one - if you have some, get in touch!
Manchester Mega Mela
28 Jul - 29 Jul
Another year, another celebration of Asian culture in Manchester hosted in Platt Fields! For more information on the Mela and some great pictures visit the Mela site here.
MOOA Kite Festival
there were many kites made, and not so many flown, but a few got high enough to find the wind and fun was had by all before the rain started! The festival was organised by MOOA - Manchester Oriental Organisations Alliance.
Another festival of lights extravaganza as Ravana was vanquished once again to a background of spectacular fireworks.
Lake Cleanup and Pumpkin Art
The friends made it into the paper once again with efforts made to clear some of the fishing line out of the lake.
Fireworks and Bonfire
Platt Fields played host to more fireworks to celebrate bonfire night.
